A Solider's Christmas

After a year’s deployment, I’m back in the US. My first assignment state side–best man in a Christmas wedding. More importantly, I'll be reunited with my dog who’s been fostered while I was gone.

I never expected an invitation to spend Christmas with Cassie. I have the time and the inclination is strong. And when the holiday’s over, I’ll be moving on to my next duty station. I gave up on Christmas wishes a long time ago.

Still, miracles do happen. Am I an idiot to have that flicker of hope that something special is coming?
